Here's an update to our original concept for our advanced Joomla 1.6 admin template (codename: AdminPrais3). In this update we explore the Joomla 1.6 ACL acting on the template, and the interaction with the interface.

The scenario of this mockup is that I'm logged in as a Shop Admin. I'm only seeing the things that might be relevant to my shop such as Tienda recent orders, Amigos affiliate sales, Billets support tickets, Google analytics and the recent Joomailer Mailchimp email campaign.

Editing Your Interface

One of the main things readers liked about my last mockup was the customization per user level. Joomla 1.6 has a full ACL system which hasn't really been adopted by devs yet. Here we present an idea on how Super Users could decide which user group sees particular admin modules. In this screenshot you also see the user's ability to edit their "favorite" links.

White Label, Session Timer & Avatar

Arguably, Joomla site admins are the only ones who need to know the names of all the different components installed. Generic icons and menu names could cut down the confusion for new users. Also shown here is a new location for the session timer, which gives you an animated countdown for your admin session. The user avatar would dynamically pull from one of many components which allow avatar upload.

Footer Toolbar

I've added a footer toolbar so you can quickly nav the site while on longer pages.

Please keep the comments coming!

Your feedback is helping mold this interface, please keep it coming. I'll be working on an update comp showing how the interface might appear for a Blogger next.
