6th Theme for 1.6
All AP Lite themes have been updated, along w/ a new theme in honor of Joomla 1.6
Admin HTML Overrides!!!
My favorite new feature of Joomla 1.6 is html overrides for the administrator site! This allows admin template devs the freedom to change entire admin layouts via their template.
Here are a few new overridden layouts in AP Lite:
Article Edit
Changing over to tabs instead of sliders saves a ton of width and also allows you to truly focus on content:
Module Edit
Also changed to tabs, the module edit screen really benefits from the extra width to allow for the new Menu Assignment layout (along w/ a nice editor for custom html modules)
Menu Item Edit
You guessed it, tabs :) In the menu edit view, tabs allow for more space for the item details, as well as the much needed space for the all new "Module Assignment for the Menu Item" view:
Status Module
You might also notice I've overridden the mod_status module to read:
0 Public - 1 Admin
instead of the tremendously long and space wasting:
None Logged-in frontend - 1 Logged-in backend
This is a small change, but indicative of the many changes that can be made to optimize the Joomla admin site. I'm just getting warmed up with the new possibilities in 1.6 :)
